Oze National Park has a long history. Originally designated as part of Nikko National Park in 1934, the Oze area was split off from Nikko National Park in 2007 to incorporate the surrounding areas including Aizu Komagatake, Mt. Oze is widely known for its beautiful scenery, which includes Ozegahara, the largest high-altitude marshland in Honshu; Oze Marsh, which was created by an eruption that dammed the headwaters of the Tadami River; and the surrounding mountains, including Mt. Oze has been threatened by development many times in the past, but thanks to the efforts of many people, the precious nature has been preserved even today and is called the "starting point of the nature conservation movement" in Japan.
